Body Image
Helping you crush body image hang-ups and make peace with food!
How Has 90s Diet Culture Impacted your Adult Body Image?
Diet culture in the 90s and early 2000s was marked by a pervasive obsession with thinness, fad diets, and body shaming. We were told from every angle that weight was somehow correlated with morality and value.
Haunted by Slim Fast shakes that riddled our taste buds with the tang of metallic chocolate, Wishbone Salad Spritzers that promised flavor but delivered a sad, misty disappointment, and that "master cleanse" concoction of lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper that burned our throats and made our eyes water.
My Work is Firmly Rooted in the Health at Every Size® Movement and Principles of Intuitive Eating.
How would your life change if you believed that your body size has absolutely nothing to do with your worth? Instead of trying to change our bodies, let’s change our perspective about our bodies!
We will deconstruct myths and perceptions about bodies and work toward removing value, stigma, and judgment from your relationship with your body. You know what’s badass? Choosing to be kind to your body in a system that was designed for you to hate it. Imagine a life where in your current body you can wear whatever you want and be in the photos, without spiraling into body shame or anxiety.
Wouldn’t it be nice to be gentle with yourself?
Generational Diet Trauma & Intuitive Eating
It’s finally time to cancel that WW subscription! Say goodbye to food guilt and embrace the freedom to eat whatever you want. IE is an evidence-based, non-diet approach that helps people make peace with food, movement, and their body. Let's take a deep dive into understanding how, when, and where your "food rules" originated. Spoiler: You never have to "earn" your food again and you can give yourself unconditional permission to eat and enjoy all of the foods you love. Kevin McCallister said it best.
Weight Stigma
We are conditioned to hate our bodies and shame the bodies of our peers all in the name of a “health” standard that just isn’t one size fits all. Weight stigma and anti-fatness are harmful because they strip individuals of their dignity, self-worth, and opportunities to live fulfilling lives. Together, we will explore and challenge societal norms that equate thinness with worth and acknowledge that health and happiness come in all shapes and sizes. “Righter of wrongs, queen beyond compare.”
Disordered Eating
Stop Suffering and Start Healing!
Do you feel like you can’t trust yourself around certain foods? You feel out of control and ashamed of how and what you eat leading you to eat in secret and avoid social settings. Your loved ones knowing about your deep struggles with food sounds like your worst nightmare, amiright? I believe that all bodies deserve to feel safe in the world, you are not a problem to be fixed or reduced, and food freedom is possible. Your relationship to food and your body are powerful entry points into exploring more about yourself and what you truly want out of life.
